In December 2025, AMUCO, alongside its allied CSOs, jointly observed International Human Rights Day with a major public gathering held at the THAU Ground in Thangmeiband, Imphal. Set against the backdrop of the region’s prolonged socio-political crisis, the event served as a critical platform to address widespread human rights violations, civilian displacement, and systemic injustices experienced by local populations.
Distinguished human rights defenders, community elders, and organizational representatives addressed the gathering, emphasizing that sustainable peace cannot be achieved without fundamental human rights protections, rule of law, and social equality for all indigenous communities. The leaders issued a collective call to international bodies and government authorities to uphold constitutional rights, provide justice to victims of the unrest, and establish a framework rooted in equity and human dignity to resolve the prevailing crisis.
