Agitation Against Segregation (October 2026)
In October 2026, the All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO), in collaboration with four other major civil society organizations (CSOs), issued a stern and uncompromising warning to both the central and state governments against any political arrangements or administrative measures that could lead to the segregation, division, or alteration of Manipur’s territorial integrity. Emphasizing the historical context and indivisible statehood of Manipur, the leadership declared that any attempt—whether direct or indirect—to create administrative divisions along ethnic or territorial lines would meet with intense, sustained resistance.
To operationalize this stance, the coalition launched a nationwide democratic public agitation starting October 24, 2026. The movement mobilized local communities across different districts, calling upon citizens to rise above localized differences, unite under a shared regional identity, and actively safeguard the state’s historical and international boundaries. Through mass rallies, public assemblies, and community outreach, the agitation reinforced the message that Manipur’s geographic and political unity remains non-negotiable.
