On August 14, 2025, AMUCO solemnly observed the 78th Manipur Independence Day at its headquarters in Kwakeithel, Imphal. The event brought together representatives from major women’s bodies—including AMAWOVA and Poirei Leimarol—alongside community elders, civil society representatives, and local youth to honor the historic day marking the end of British colonial rule in Manipur in 1947.
The commemoration served as a reflective gathering to recount the sovereignty and historical legacy of the state. Key speakers emphasized the importance of remembering historical milestones to inspire resilience amidst contemporary challenges. The leadership called upon all indigenous communities to maintain historical awareness, safeguard their ancestral heritage, and uphold the collective dignity of the people through unity and mutual respect.
